Strasbourg Lily (fleur-de-lys in a crowned shield) watermark (Ash/Fletcher
36 E.a.). A richly printed, dark, early 17th cerntury/lifetime impression of
Bartsch’s first state of two, Usticke’s first state of three.
An old man with a barrel organ and a young one with bagpipes perform for a
couple and their baby standing in their doorway. Similar scenes were
depicted by other masters, particularly Adriaen van Ostade. |
